Drought Damage
Aerate - Aerating a lawn means supplying the soil with air, usually by poking holes in the ground throughout the lawn using an aerator. It reduces soil compaction and helps control thatch in lawns while helping water and fertilizer move into the root zone. On thatchy lawns, it is important to leave the cores on the lawn, allowing them to work back into the grass. Otherwise, the cores may be removed or left on the lawn. Lawns may be fertilized and seeded immediately after aeration. There is no need to top dress lawns following aeration. *MARK ALL SPRINKLER HEADS BEFORE AERATING SO THOSE LINES WILL NOT BE DAMAGE*

Power Raking - As seasons go by your lawan accumulates debris at the soil level such as lawn clippings, decaying leaft debris, pollen, etc....etc. Power Raking scratches the surface if the soil with small tines pulling up all the debris that has settled overtime.
Overseeding - Provides a quick, easy way to thicken and rejuvenate grassy areas.
We are now taking orders for Aeration, Power Raking, and Overseeding.

Shorter duration watering has only shallow penetration causing the root system to stay near the surface. In times of drought, this turf is more likely to brown or even die.
The main thing to remember is to never remove more than 1/3 of the height of the grass blade in any one cutting. This limits the shock to the plant and allows for maximum root growth by minimizing the amount of energy required to replace the grass leaves. |
Any time you cut your lawn, you are helping and harming your lawn simultaneously. It is true that properly mowed lawns grow in thicker. This is because the tips of grass contain a chemical, which discourages horizontal growth. By cutting frequently, you remove this chemical allowing the grass to use its energy to grow outward as well as upward. However, every time a plant is cut it is a shock to its system. It causes a plant to spend its energy on growing new leaves instead of extending its root system. For this reason, a lawn that is never mowed will generally have a more extensive root system than a manicured lawn. It is the balance of effects that determines the health and appearance of a lawn. That is why it is important to maximize the positive effects of mowing by doing it properly.
